Una storia suggestiva, di brevissima durata ma di importanza seminale per il sound di molte band.

La POSTCARD RECORDS, con il motto "The Sound of Young Scotland", venne fondata nel 1979 da ALAN HORNE, affiancato poi da EDWYN COLLINS, durò meno di due anni stampando 12 singoli e un album prima di chiudere.
Riprese negli anni 90 realizzando 7 album tra nuovi lavori e raccolte.

Ebbe il merito di fare conoscere gruppi come ORANGE JUICE, JOSEF K, GO BETWEENS, AZTEC CAMERA che presero poi strade più prestigiose e remunerative attraverso major ed etichette più strutturate e importanti. Nomi che hanno influenzato band come Smiths, Franz Ferdinand, Primal Scream e tanti altri.

Il sound della Postcard univa la decadenza dei Velvet Underground con new wave e un indubbio gusto soul pop.

Furono vicini a realizzare un singolo con Nico che però, in pieno periodo tossico, rifiutò, ruppe i rapporti e li insultò pubblicamente o con Laurie Anderson per il poi fortunatissimo "O Superman" mentre rifiutarono gli Altered Images e la loro "Happy birthday" che di lì a poco scalerà le classifiche.
